What are prebiotics?

What Are Synbiotics?

The Golden Rule: You Need Both
Probiotics without prebiotics = you swallow live bacteria, but many die before establishing themselves.
Prebiotics without probiotics = you feed whatever bacteria are already there (which may include bad bacteria if your gut is out of balance).
Synbiotics (both together) = the ideal. Eat fermented foods (probiotics) with high-fiber vegetables (prebiotics) in the same meal. Examples:

Quick Troubleshooting: Gas and Bloating
When you first increase prebiotic intake, you will likely experience gas and bloating. This is normal, your gut bacteria are fermenting the new fibers and producing gas as a byproduct.
